work independently on your ceramics, with the company of other ceramic enthousiasts

For whom?

The Open Studio is intended for anyone with some experience in ceramics and for students currently taking a course. During these sessions, you can practice independently outside of classes or work on your own projects. Our goal is to create a community of makers where people can connect & develop their skills.

Where?

Beattrijsstraat 8–12 in The Hague.
Free parking is available.

When?

We are starting this concept on May 2nd, 2026!
Saturdays from 10:30 to 13:30. (We may expand to more time slots in the future.)
You can book single sessions, whenever works for you. Book ahead when you want to be sure of a spot!

Costs

€35 per session.
If you book 4 or more sessions at once, you pay €32 per session. The discount is applied automatically at checkout.

Firing costs: €15 per kilo, weighed after glaze firing. This includes material and energy costs.

You can reserve a spot at a potter's wheel or at a work table. At the table, you can, for example, glaze, decorate, attach handles, and hand-build.

Further practical information

Times

• You are free to arrive and leave at any time between 10:30 and 13:30.

• Everyone uses the last 15 minutes to clean their workspace.

Support

• A studio assistant is present for practical questions (such as where materials are located).

• There is no teacher present; you must be able to work independently.

Materials in the studio

• The studio works with clay: G&S 254.

• All clay is recycled ♻️ by the studio, so you don’t need to spend time on this yourself.

• There are 20+ glazes available (a mix of store-bought and homemade).

• Most glazes are food-safe; a few are for decorative use only.

• We also recycle glaze ♻️ residue (e.g. from brushing) and turn it into new glazes.

• Additionally, there are 20+ house-mixed engobes available at no extra cost.

Own materials

• It is not permitted to bring your own clay, glazes, or other materials.

• You may bring your own tools.

• The studio is not responsible for lost tools, so it’s recommended to label them with your name.

Other

• It is not permitted to take clay, glaze or bisque fired pieces home.

• Please bring your own apron (and clean it regularly to help keep the studio air healthy for everyone).

• Cancellation or rescheduling is possible up to 4 weeks (28 days) before the start and can be arranged through an email to info@jordanaceramics.nl.

• And last: this is a new concept for us. We have done our best to think everything through, but as we gain experience, we may adjust certain details along the way.
